MOTORISTS in Warrington could soon reap the benefits of a car crime hit team to reduce vehicle crime. Cheshire Police has been awarded major government funding, meaning an extra £929,000 has been earmarked for scientific support. Police are hoping to appoint 10 new assistant scenes of crime officers, and once new civilian posts have been established, DNA and fingerprint evidence will be collected at more crime scenes, particularly in relation to vehicle crime. The posts will be based in Warrington, Chester, Crewe, Macclesfield and Northwich.
