Crosfields ARLFC A...10
Rylands A...8
A 'derby' that lived up to expectations and looked as if either side could be the winner until late on.
Rylands' good defence prevented an early score.
However, a persistant Crosfields scored the first try of the game but Keith Thomason soon levelled the scores.
The first half hour of the second half remained a stalemate until Crosfields' man of the match Phil Braddish kicked a penalty and five minutes later ran 30 yards to score but did not convert.
Rylands never gave up and Alan Brinksman put them back in contention with a grubber kick which he chased and dropped on, putting Rylands two points behind almost on full time.
Peter Leonard's conversion attempt bounced off the cross bar and back into play.
Again penalties conceded by Rylands allowed the opposition to make yards and points.
Best for Rylands were Mike Lee and Keith Thomason and Dave Taylor in the pack and in the backs, Leonard and Jeff Robinson.
