Crosfields...20
New Earswick...14
CROSFIELDS were made to work hard for this National Conference League Division Two victory which keeps them well in the hunt for promotion.
Soap were the first to score when Dave Gibbons chipped through. Paul Clarke collected and fed Gibbons, who put Rob Ditchfield over.
The visitors came back and were awarded an obstruction try after chasing a kick through.
Crosfields made six consecutive sets of six tackles at the start of the second half and finally broke when Dave Carling scored.
Finally Crosfields were able to exert pressure on the visitors' line and Paul Williams forced his way over from acting half and two minutes later crossed the line again when Lee Smith got on the end of a passing move to bring the scores level.
Gibbons sealed the game for Soap when he scythed through the visitors' defence to score.
The introduction of Williams and later Terry Reid put a bit more bite into attack and defence and helped achieve the last quarter fight-back.
Crosfields are away to York Acorn on Saturday.
