OUTSTANDING defence by both teams kept the scores close but Latchford's attack had the edge over Blackbrook. James, Thompson, D. Ball, Feather and Pendlebury all worked hard in defence while M. Ball, Reid, Ellis and Byron led the attack superbly.

Woolston's defence was strong and well organised, which ensured the win.

CHORLEY'S giant forwards constantly ran the ball up the middle and kept Latchford pinned in their own half.
A great display of tackling from Latchford could only hold out for so long.
Great running from Scott Hughes saw him take player of the match and once again Anton Mason took top tackler with another tireless display.

A catalogue of errors saw Albion lose a game they could have won.
Ben Mellor and Mike Linaker got Latchford's first two tries and Linaker converted one of them.
Mike Cooper ran strongly with Billy Maunder and Lee Mitchell varying play in attack. Strong in defence were Dave Jones and Joe Gandy with Jono Smith causing threats with the ball in his hands.
The half-back pairing of Maunder and Mitchell produced a try for Lee Mitchell.

THE story of Crosfields' season can be summed up with the cliche 'a game of two halves'.
Soap were 20-0 down at half-time but they were by far the better team in the second half, winning it 10-4.
Player of the match Gareth Mercer scored two tries, one of which was passed through every player's hands. Josh Woods won the coaches' award and Jack Smith was top tackler.
Special mention to new boy Daniel O'Brian who slotted in very well.

RYLANDS made hard work of a bigger Waterhead pack but two individual tries from C. White kept the Sharks in the game and his last minute conversion earned Rylands a deserved draw.
Other tries came from R. Douglas and L. Caldwell. Player of the match C. Forster also kicked a goal.

WOOLSTON were not at their best, allowing Leigh the space they needed to dictate.
A late rally from Woolston saw them rewarded with a try from C. Beneke. The conversion was kicked by P. Airey but it was too little too late. Player of the match for Woolston was T. McCarthy, top tackler was P. Reynolds with best support being awarded to D. Whittaker and K. Adamson.

RYLANDS ran out comfortable winners against a huge Folly Lane side.
Mike Thomason, Chris Sherratt and Chris Johnson scored tries in a close first half. Jimmie Bostock converted all three and Jason Garrathy dropped a goal.
Rylands stepped up a gear in the second half with tries from Ashley Francis, Jason Garrathy, two and Chris Johnson with Garrathy adding another drop goal and Bostock again converting all four tries.

CROSFIELDS came out on top of a four-pointer with an under strength side.
Soap were getting beat 4-2 at half-time but the team pulled together.
Tries from Danny Inman, two and goals from Dane Whaley. Player of the match went to Dave Saxon and Craig Heslop.

A sticky pitch and non-too generous refereeing decisions finally ended the Falcons' title hopes.
Despite going behind to two early penalties a try from Rob Fisher converted by Mark Cooke put the Falcons in the lead.
Shevington's winning try appeared not to be grounded. However, it was converted and with no further score they ran out narrow winners.
Top performers for Falcons were Phil O'Gilvie and Gary Corbett with Mike Brown and Mark Cooke tireless at play-the-ball.
