Blackburn...7
Lymm RFC...17
LYMM produced another barnstorming team performance to beat and leapfrog Blackburn into the mid-table safety zone of the North Two West league.
The niggle of the last meeting threatened to boil over when Blackburn No.8 Adam Smith flattened Lymm captain Sutton.
Following the yellow carding both teams played clean but hard uncompromising rugby.
Lymm took charge of the first half and Sion Williams took a good line-out ball. Lymm put on a driving maul and Jim Fergusson twisted his body over for a try. R. Hopkinson converted.
Adam Fletcher was on hand to scoop up the loose ball to score from a Nick Shaw kick. The conversion by Hopkinson was a formality.
Lymm should have stretched their lead when the Lymm pack drove over the line but failed to get the ball to ground.
In the second half Blackburn's bombs were safely gathered by Holloway and the outstanding full back Martin Bower.
Hopkinson kicked a penalty but it was his strong running down the left that won him the man of the match award.
Blackburn missed a long-range penalty but were back in contention with a converted try.
Blackburn battered the Lymm defence for the last quarter only to be met by the ferocious tackles of Millachip and Fletcher.
Lymm's forwards, prompted by hooker Maguire and Sutton, finished on top of their bigger opponents for a magnificent win in a truly entertaining game.
Lymm Seconds went down 17-14 at Broughton Park despite dominating for long periods.
Lymm were winning until Park were awarded a debatable penalty try in injury time.
Dave Atherton scored a try and John Jenkins kicked three penalties. Scrum half Pritchard made a promising debut.
