Castleford Tigers...18 Warrington Wolves...0
BOTTOM-of-the-table Warrington Wolves were desperate for winning points at Castleford but fell to their fourth consecutive Super League defeat.
Stuart Raper's Castleford team handled the dreadful wet and windy conditions much better than the Wolves, who gave away too many penalties and dropped too much ball to stand any chance of winning.
Stand off Lee Briers started the game despite his brother Brian's death earlier in the week.
After a one-minute silence, as a mark of respect for Brian's and Letitia Nikau's deaths, Briers started the game by kicking the ball straight out of play and it summed up Warrington's night.
Skipper Allan Langer had the ball stolen off him in a two-man tackle as he was about to touch down in the seventh minute and he was agonisingly inches short of touching down his own grubber kick later in the first half but they were the only times Warrington looked like scoring.
Castleford built up a 16-0 half-time lead from tries by winger Jon Wells and stand off Danny Orr, plus one Orr conversion and three penalty goals.
The only score of a scrappy second half was an Orr penalty.
