WARRINGTON Wolves will go in search of their first Super League points against Leeds Rhinos at Wilderspool on Thursday without the likely services of stand off Lee Briers.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, Briers will be attending the funeral of his brother Brian, who died last Wednesday, and then on Thursday the Briers family will be scattering Brian's ashes (see news pages for further details of the double tragedy to hit the Wolves).

In Briers' expected absence, utility player Steve Georgallis will take on the stand off role if he fully recovers from jarring his neck for the second successive week against Castleford Tigers on Saturday.

Georgallis, after two strong performances in the loose forward position, will feel more confident in the role than earlier in the season when he was thrown in at the deep end after little match practice.

The Wolves have received positive news in that workaholic prop forward Danny Nutley will be available to play against the Rhinos. He had been placed on report for a challenge on Castleford scrum half Mitch Healey at The Jungle but Rugby Football League chiefs have ruled no further action is to be taken.

Warrington, whose 18-0 defeat at Castleford has taken them to four losses from four games in Super League, are desperate to get off the mark against a Leeds side who brought in a new coach yesterday, Monday.

The Rhinos parted with Dean Lance over the weekend, following Leeds' 18-16 home defeat to Hull, and have replaced him with their former player Darryl Powell.

He will be hoping to have some injured players back on the park as there were seven regulars, including Iestyn Harris, Ryan Sheridan and Tony Carroll - absent against Hull FC.

Thursday's game kicks off at 8pm.
