CONGRATULATIONS to Karen Richardson who has been officially appointed as headteacher at Greenfields Primary School.
Mrs Richardson joined the school as deputy head in September 1999, but took the job as stand-in headteacher in January last year after her predecessor, John Wilson, left on a temporary basis.
Mr Wilson has now been asked by the council to join another school and despite competition from other candidates Mrs Richardson is now permanent head.
Mrs Richardson said: "I was thrilled to bits because Greenfields has become very special to me.
" I have had a lot of support from parents, staff and children alike."
