POCKETS C got the five-pont cushion they needed to win the Hyundai Mid Cheshire Snooker League on Monday night.

Their 5-2 win over Winsford Cons A in the season's final match propelled them from third place to first, leapfrogging Congleton Cygnet C.

The defeat means Cons are relegated, and they will be joined in Division One by Bostcock A and Hall Club B.

United Services D won the Division One title by the skin of their teeth, as they finished level on points with Castle Private B.

Services crashed to a 6-1 home defeat to already-relegated Gladstone B, while one more point for Private in their last game at Bostock D would have edged them ahead. However, they lost 4-3.

Knutsford Private A were also promoted to the Premier Division, securing third spot with a 5-2 win at Congleton Cygnet C.

The remaining relegation issues rested on the result between Pockets A and Hartford C, due to take place last night (Tuesday).

Middlewich Legion D wrapped up the second division title with their 5-2 success at Bostock B, while Wharton A's 5-2 loss at Knutsford Private B let Pochins B, 5-2 victors at Aventis B, sneak in for promotion.

Congleton Cygnet A also did just enough to secure their rise to Division One, finishing second in the table following their 4-3 defeat by United Services C.

The top three was a lot clearer in Division Three, Middlewich Legion completing a double with their A team winning the championship.

They beat Meadowbank A 6-1 in their final game, and were joined in the promtion frame by Rudheath A and Knutsford Libs B.

The most significant statistic of Libs' 6-1 win was that their opponents, Winnington D finished the season bottom of the league after losing all 20 of their games.
