THEATRE trust treasurer Magnus Stirling is ecstatic that work has begun on a new extension to the Daneside Theatre.
The new three-storey building will provide two spacious rehearsal rooms, a smaller meeting room and area for storing scenery.
The theatre has been planning the project for many years, and the dream has become a reality in the last 18 months thanks to a series of grants.
The National Lottery is contributing £57,000, and £25,000 has been given by the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Waste Recycling Group.
Congleton Inclosure Trust has given £7,000 to the scheme, and £5,000 and £1,000 has come from Congleton Borough and Town Councils respectively.
The work will take about 20 weeks to complete, and the new extension should be open by the beginning of September.
