MAJOR refurbishments to transform the face of Poll Tax House in the town centre have forced Warrington Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) to move home for a while.
Poll Tax House, the home of the borough council's Revenues and Benefits Service, is undergoing a facelift and will be closed from tomorrow, Friday, until mid-July.
The works involve a complete redesign of the ground floor 'payments' and public waiting areas and two new reception points are planned, along with more efficient payments points and queueing systems.
As a result, the CAB is being temporarily relocated to the east annexe of the town hall until the works are finished.
As part of the improvement plans, the Information Centre has permanently moved to a new site in Warrington Market, near to the Customer Service point.
Graham Sayers, head of Revenues and Benefits, said: "This major refurbishment will make a huge improvement in both the way Poll Tax House looks and operates, providing a more comfortable and friendly environment for customers.
"We acknowledge this work will involve some disruption to customers in the short term and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
"However, the redesign and modernisation will ultimately improve service delivery to all our customers and provide a more comfortable facility for the future."
Despite all the moves, all telephone numbers for inquiries remain the same.
For housing and council tax benefit enquiries, call 443210, for council tax and business rate inquiries call 443210 and for the CAB call 574538.
