A GREAT opportunity has arisen for charities and community groups in Warrington to apply for funding.
Since July last year the town's general public and businesses have been busy raising money for the Mayor's Chainlink Charity Fund.
And due to everybody's hard work, more than £14,000 has been raised. These funds are to be donated to local charities and groups to provide much-needed support throughout the community.
As the civic year is now drawing to a close, the council is now taking applications from community and voluntary groups, which can each apply for a maximum of £250.
Once an application is received it will be carefully considered by a panel made up of members of the council's appeal committee.
Mayor Sheila Woodyatt said: "This money will go a long way towards helping support a great many local groups.
"Right from the start, it has been the firm belief of both the committee and myself that this money should be used to provide support where it is most needed.
"To make sure we achieve this, we look forward to receiving applications and helping to make a difference in Warrington.
"None of this money would be available without the whole-hearted support from a great many people across the borough. I am most grateful for that support."
Application forms are available from George Thornton on 442143 or by post to the Town Hall. Completed forms must be returned by May 31.
