A BIKE ride which raises vital cash for research into cystic fibrosis will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer.
And organisers Andrew and Shirley Skett, whose 12-year-old daughter Emma inspired the event after being diagnosed with the condition, are hoping to raise more than £20,000.
Emma, of Statham Avenue, Lymm, undergoes monitoring at a special cystic fibrosis clinic where staff treat any symptoms straight away, but her parents say it is essential that more research is carried out.
The convoy of cyclists will leave the Lymm village car park on Pepper Street at noon on Sunday, July 8, and head to Tatton Park, which will be open, then back to the village on a 20-mile circuit.
A fun day will take place in the car park throughout the day, with a road safety roadshow arranged by police, a raffle and a tombola.
Andrew said: "We are looking for families, individuals, experienced or non-experienced riders to take part. It's a good fun day out and a challenge.
"We haven't kept a record of who took part in the first few years, but we are looking for people who have done the ride for six or seven years, and we would love to hear from anyone who took part in the first ride. With it being the 10th year, we want to make it extra special."
Riders get T-shirts, drinks and Mars bars to help them along the way, and Parry's cycles in Latchford will provide back-up for tired riders.
Developer Bryant Homes has donated £3,500 to cover organising costs, meaning that every penny raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
