WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones is backing a new fight against the "evil" of drugs.
Helen is supporting the Communities Against Drugs Strategy and has pledged that the campaign will come to the town.
The initiative supports partnerships between parents, teachers, neighbours, volunteers, employers, police and other local services in the fight against drugs.
Money will be used from the Crime and Disorder Partnerships to develop strategies to tackle the problem on a local level.
Nationally, £220 million will be spent over three years on Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships and £35 million over three years on strengthening Drug Action Teams.
Helen said: "Drugs are an evil that can hit every community and that crosses every social and economic boundary. Their effects can be devastating.
"To effectively fight the problems we must stand together as a community. The new strategy shows how we can mobilise communities in that fight and I will be doing all I can to promote the initiative here in Warrington.
"I am keen to hear what people think and would ask anyone with a view to contact me."
Helen can be contacted on 232480.
