Mid Cheshire
District Cup final

BARNTON polished off Vics' second string to collect their first silverware of the season last Wednesday.
It was always going to be difficult for Vics, who used their 60th player of the season in the final, against one of the most settled sides you could wish to manage.
The match was effectively decided in the first 27 minutes as the Mid Cheshire League champions-elect raced into a 2-0 lead.
Les Miranda scored the first on 12 minutes when a Will Killey corner triggered a game of pinball which was brought to an emphatic conclusion by Miranda's drive from 12 yards.
David Dale added the second a quarter of an hour later when Richie Milne played the ball over the defence and although Dale was forced wide, he whacked the ball into the top corner from an acute angle.
Vics improved beyond recognition in the second half as they tried to up the tempo and Derrick Fortune had to make a couple of saves to maintain his team's two-goal cushion.
But Lee Murphy connected with Adrian Brodigan's corner to wrap things up 12 minutes from the end.
Vics manager Ted Carthy, whose side had an average age of 19, said: "It was a learning experience for the lads and I think they were overawed in the first half.
"They performed particularly well in the second and can be very proud of themselves."
