SECOND half domination took Sidac Social to Guardian Cup glory on Monday.

Striker Graham Mitchell made up for not converting a penalty by hitting the winner in the 77th minute of a tense final at Rylands Recreation Ground.

There was suspicion of off-side when Mitchell chased Ste Pilling's over-the-top pass but when he slotted the ball below advancing goalkeeper Ste Desmond it was nothing more than Sidac had deserved for their improved second half efforts.

Whiston's greatest chances came in the first half with the best of their attacking play coming down the right flank through the fancy footwork and trickery of Ian Hayes.

Their nearest chance fell to Tony Wiltshire whose volley from Darren Hindley's flick up forced a spread-eagle save from Dave Conway.

Whiston had held the upper hand in the opening half but did not seem to get started after the break.

And when Hayes limped off with a thigh injury Whiston's hopes appeared to fade.

Despite Desmond making a super save to redeem his foul that resulted in the penalty it was Sidac who showed the hunger to go on and win Warrington Soccer League's premier knockout competition.
