MARTY Masella played a key part in the Wolves' double success over Easter!

With Andrew Gee being sidelined through injury Masella had to take on board more responsibility against Leeds Rhinos and Halifax Blue Sox. He rose to the challenge and his first try for Warrington Wolves was a crucial match-turning one against the Blue Sox on Monday but he can not remember anything about it.

Afterwards Masella said: "I've no idea how the try came about.

"I saw the white line and thought that if I kept on pushing a little bit more I might get there and fortunately for me it happened that way.

"It came at the right time for us and I was really happy to get it. If I score any try it's fantastic and I'm really happy because I don't score too many."

Masella brushed off two defenders on a 20m power surge to the try line to give Warrington the lead for the first time in the 70th minute. But the Wolves still had a fight on their hands even after Dean Busby followed up with his second try.

Masella said: "It went right down to the last second. We let them back into the game after taking an eight-point lead but credit to our team for hanging in.

"I was hoping it would not go another minute longer because there could have been a chance of Halifax taking the two points off us.

"But two wins over Easter has turned things around for us. We were under a bit of pressure.

"Our form had not been great when we first started the league campaign. We've still got a lot to work on which is the most pleasing thing as it means we are nowhere near our full straps yet.

"If we can continue in the same way and carry on winning then it is going to bring a lot of positive things for the club."
