ROBBERS dressed like members of the Ku Klux Klan put two women through a terrifying ordeal when they hit on a convenience store last week.
Two men, armed with pieces of wood, raided the Co-op Late Shop on Manchester Road, Lostock Gralam at 8.35pm on Wednesday evening.
They threatened the members of staff before taking off with cash, phone cards and cigarettes and speeding off in a C-reg, gold Nissan Sunny towards Townshend Road.
David Short of the Co-op said: "Thankfully there were no injuries but the two ladies were very badly shaken by the incident."
Police have launched a search for the robbers.
A spokesman said: "This kind of crime is very frightening for staff employed in shops and business premises late into the evenings.
"We are appealing to anyone who can help identify the two offenders or anyone who may have seen them, or the vehicle, in the vicinity prior to the robbery to contact CID."
One of the men is described as 5ft 7ins tall, slim and was wearing a grey/blue sweater, blue jeans and white trainers.
The other is said to be 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a dark blue Nike sweat shirt with 'Nike' written on his chest, dark blue or black jeans and black shoes. Both wore gloves and white bags with eye holes for masks.
