A CONTROVERSIAL late goal robbed Nantwich Town of a deserved point against high-flying Ramsbottom United on Saturday.
Shocked faces left Jackson Avenue in sheer disbelief after the visitors clinched a 2-1 victory seven minutes into injury time.
As Dabbers keeper Stuart Heaps clearly let an effort go behind for a goal-kick and a team-mate received treatment, the referee overruled his assistant and awarded a corner from which Ramsbottom scored.
It was a cruel blow for Nantwich who dominated the second-half, finally cancelling out United's 15th minute opener thanks to a fine goal from Jon Dawson on 74 minutes.
Dabbers boss Dave Cooke was furious: "It was very heated to say the least at the end. We battered them in the second-half and we feel like we've been robbed of what would have been an excellent point."
A highspot for Cooke was the return of left back Mark McGuire who has missed the last four months through injury.
"Mark did really well and he's a good prospect," he added.
Jimmy Quinn is expected to be back for the Dabbers at bottom-placed Great Harwood Town, this Saturday.
