EVERYBODY dreams of one day managing the company they work for.

When you're down at the bottom, it's almost impossible to believe you could rise to the top. But when it does happen, it gives us all hope.

And Alsager's Paul Johnson who works for Wright's Pies grabbed his opportunities with both hands.

Joining the firm in 1986 as a driver, Paul has worked his way up the ladder to become its new managing director.

The amount of faith Crewe-based Wright's have shown in the 44-year-old is further demonstrated as he becomes the first person outside of the family, to hold the position.

Outgoing MD and new chairman, Peter Wright felt it was just reward.

"We see it as deserved recognition of his achievement since joining the company."

Obviously delighted, Paul was looking forward to the challenge of his new position.

"First of all, I'd like to thank my wife for all her support and the Wright family for providing me with a challenge over the last 15 years," he said.

"I will continue to look after the staff and maintain the high quality that Wright's are renowned for."

Wright's Pies opened its £5,000,000 distribution centre in Crewe, last November, which now falls under Paul's wing along with the firm's premises in Stoke, 13 shops, two tea rooms and a delivery service.
