ST ROCCO'S Hospice came off tops last month when it received the largest donation from the Bravo fundraising initiative.
Bravo is the Cheshire Constabulary's year-long fundraising initiative, which raises funds for charities nominated by each of the constabulary's divisions and departments.
Twelve months of charity work came to an end last week with a gala dinner held at the Park Royal International Hotel at Stretton.
Warrington property officer Stephen Marnick penned this special poem, dedicated to the hospice which is so close to the Warrington public's hearts:
A year of raising funds and now we're almost there,
Smiles and laughs, joy and pain and just because we care
St Rocco's Hospice duly deserved our efforts in raising cash,
To bring some comfort to those in need, we end it with this bash
Quiz nights, golfing days, raffles and much, much more,
Have all helped to go some way to help those you're caring for
We may never see their faces we may never know their names,
And they may never know the net result of all our games
One thing we know for sure you have such a worthy cause,
We saw how our money could be spent when we went through St Rocco's doors
We hope that you enjoy the evening and go away in peace,
Knowing that St Rocco's have some money and best wishes from staff at Warrington Police!
The poem has now been framed and will be displayed at the hospice.
