THE first 'On Track' conference has taken place at the peace centre where groups of young people gathered to celebrate their achievements over the past year.
The 15 and 16-year-olds, who have come from Newman, Birchwood and Sir Thomas Boetler High Schools as well as other schools across Cheshire, have taken past in various programmes, including a team quiz, pool, basketball, table tennis, internet, arts and crafts competitions and teambuilding games.
'On Track' has been run in partnership with schools and is a careers education and guidance programme designed to motivate and develop skills in preparation for leaving school.
Over the year, groups have been involved in a number of enterprise activities to raise money and develop teambuilding games.
Woodford Lodge High School, from Windsford made a donation of £130 to the peace centre from the funds they raised with 'On Track'.
Paula Waddington, from Cheshire Guidance Partnership, now Connexions, said: "The groups have all visited the centre for one day workshops previously and the feedback was so positive that we thought it was good to return."
Presentations were made to the young people by Gary Chambers and Neil Kelly from Warrington Wolves and peace centre manager Karen McManus.
Youth Worker Dave Reid said: "I think that the day has been a positive experience for all of the young people involved."
