WARRINGTON Wolves' barmy army of supporters will continue to stand up to watch their team in the planned new stadium.
A new draft layout, proposed by the Wolves, is for a 14,000 capacity stadium which includes space behind each set of goal posts for 3,500 fans who would prefer to remain on their feet.
The club believes it will make sure the new Wolves' den retains the magnificent atmosphere which is generated at Wilderspool, such as on Friday night when the Warrington fans were in full voice to serenade the 56-22 success over St Helens.
The new draft plan, which shows the stadium split from the Tesco Extra Store by a car park on the former Tetley Walker brewery site off Winwick Road, has yet to be passed by the Tesco board of directors but their initial response has been positive.
For the first time, details of the stadium's features were also revealed at Saturday's stadium rally at the Parr Hall.
It is proposed to feature up to six classrooms for the club's community work through education, a sports bar, a conference suite for up to 500 guests, up to 20 pitch-facing hospitality boxes for match day entertaining, a club shop, offices and a concourse level all around the stadium for match day supporters to be able to mingle and purchase refreshments.
Lord Hoyle, chairman of the Wolves, revealed the stadium could be built within 12 months of the plans being given the go ahead.
A public inquiry into the joint development of the stadium and store begins on Tuesday, May 15, and is scheduled to last for eight days.
The inquiry inspector will then report his recommendation to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, who will make the final decision.
