IN-FORM Alsager are on course for a mid-table finish after an undefeated Easter programme.

Greg Clowes' men followed a solid 0-0 draw at Formby on Saturday with a 1-0 home victory against Darwin on Easter Monday.

Their unbeaten run never looked in danger on their travels as Alsager pressured from the start and chalked up four corners in the first 10 minutes.

With Rob Drummond and Steve Grocott dominant in the middle for them, all they needed was the breakthrough.

It almost arrived on 47 minutes as Wayne Brotherton split the Formby defence with an accurate pass that Karl Bayley smashed just over the bar.

The home side could have stolen it though as Wilson's header struck the post with Brook's resulting drive well saved by keeper Rob Powner.

Another electric start should have put Alsager in the driving seat against Darwin as Brotherton had just the keeper to beat but he drilled his effort wide after 12 minutes.

Bayley's ambitious overhead kick travelled just wide as the home side bossed proceedings ahead of the interval.

In a combative match Darwin had seven players booked and both goalkeeper Purvis and Khan sent off, with the shotstopper dismissed for dissent after Alsager won a penalty on 65 minutes.

Steve Faint missed it first time but hammered home the re-take to give Alsager three well-deserved points.
