WARRINGTON'S St George's day celebrations brought out the patriot in the young and old, with hundreds turning out in force at the weekend to honour England's patron saint's day which took place on Monday.
Despite the cold, the town's scout groups and brass bands flocked to the steps of the town hall to meet Mayor Clr Sheila Woodyatt and her consort, Neville, who started the event with a salute.
The parade marched around the town centre along Sankey Street, Golborne Street, Scotland Road and Buttermarket Street to Warrington Parish Church where a musical service was held. This was led by the Rev Michael Finlay with contributions from Scout Chaplain Rev John Reed and Culcheth Methodist Minister Rev Paul Martin.
