The Government has issued guidance on the disposal of animals following the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
The guidance, which brings together existing scientific advice and research, has been issued to those involved in constructing and locating pyres and burial sites, as well as local authorities and health authorities in affected areas of the country.
At the same time, a leaflet giving the best advice for members of the public is being distributed to GP surgeries and NHS Direct centres.
