JUST 18 months after officially opening its doors, the Cheshire Dogs' Home in Grappenhall has celebrated a special milestone the rehoming of its 1,000th dog.
The lucky pup, Toby, was one of a litter born at Manchester Dogs' Home, where his mother was abandoned.
Cynthia Payne, spokesman for Cheshire Dogs' Home, on Knutsford Road, says that Toby's mother was probably abandoned because she was pregnant.
"Fortunately we have been able to rehome the mother and her litter but we are still at crisis point with hundreds of dogs and puppies looking for new homes," she said.
To mark the 1,000th rehoming, Warrington Borough Council leader Clr John Gartside presented a commemorative bowl and a supply of dog food to the special little pup's new owner, Lucy Sanders.
