Dudley Hill...18
Woolston Rovers...34
AN impressive performance by Rovers on Saturday saw them record a comfortable 34-18 victory at Dudley Hill that kept them at the top of the National Conference League Premier Division.
Mark Wallington levelled the scores after Dan Heaton went blind from a scrum and put him in.
Dudley went back in front but not for long before Heaton put second row Jon Cole over for a try.
Rovers took the lead for the first time on the half-hour when a good interchange of passing between hooker Phil Dermott and Martin put Cole over wide out for his second try.
Three minutes into the second half Rovers increased their lead when a lovely short ball from Dermott put Cole over for his hat-trick.
Dave Patterson went on a 60-yard break, brushing off several attempted tackles before being held down short. A quick play-the-ball saw centre Tim Iddon score.
A long ball from Dermott found winger Mark Moran, who rounded his opposite number to score wide out and make it 30-8.
Dudley scored their third try but Rovers went straight back up the other end and second row Shaun Geritas scored in the corner.
Dudley completed the scoring six minutes from time.
Man of the match was Rovers' second row Cole.
He was very well supported by prop forward Mark Shephard and hooker Phil Dermott.
