Lymm RFC...17
Caldy...12
LYMM Rugby Union Club took the game to Caldy and centre John Millachip had the ball knocked from his grasp going over the line before R. Hopkinson kicked a penalty.
Full back Martin Bower fell short of the line following a superb break by Fletcher.
Bower immediately repeated the defence-splitting move to touch down between the posts for an easy conversion for Hopkinson.
The first half belonged to Lymm and they should have stretched their lead but first Hopkinson and Sutton knocked-on with the try line beckoning.
Lymm led 10-3 at half-time when Caldy's captain kicked a penalty.
Scrappy play allowed Caldy back into the match with a penalty and a drop goal. Lymm, without a game for two weeks, looked ring rusty and conceded too many unforced errors with quarter of an hour left on the clock Caldy took the lead with a penalty and camped out on the Lymm line.
Lymm won a scrum against the head in their own half and Sutton sprinted 40 metres before giving ever-present Andy Holloway the match-winning pass for a try.
Six wins in seven games means Lymm are safe mid-table.
The seconds beat Ormskirk away 15-13. Dave Wysanki and Dave Atherton scored tries and Chris Elliott got a conversion and penalty for a deserved win.
Lymm Thirds rounded off a satisfactory day for all Lymm teams with a 24-19 victory at home to Ormskirk.
