A BRAVE Culcheth man fought off a masked raider who was attempting to get into his house despite being sprayed with shattered glass and CS gas.
The 44-year-old man, who lives in the Twiss Green Lane area, was returning from work at 10pm last Wednesday when he was attacked.
As he approached his front door a man wearing a balaclava got out of a stolen Saab 9000 and followed him up the drive while three men waited in the vehicle.
Realising what was happening the man managed to get into his house and the attacker took a bat and smashed a window before spraying liquid, believed to be CS gas, into the man's face.
But the man, who suffered cuts to his face from the shattered glass, would not allow the attacker into his house and struggled with him until he fled. It is believed he wanted the man's car keys.
The Saab had been stolen from the Brookfield Road area of Lymm at 9pm on the same evening.
Anyone who witnessed anything either in Lymm or Culcheth should contact DC Colin Westgate on 652222.
