Chester...134 all out
AFTER last week's rain Toft travelled to Chester on Saturday more in hope than anticipation.
They soon found themselves in trouble after losing the fifth wicket for a modest 40.
This was the signal for Muirhead (55) and Ashley (36) to build a saving partnership of 78 as Toft reached 134 all out.
For Chester Pritchard was the most successful bowler with 5 for 34.
The Chester innings commenced with 54 overs available and after 10 overs they had scored nine runs.
After 28 overs there was a slight improvement when they had progressed to 52 runs for the loss of three wickets.
The 29th over brought about an amazing transformation when Muirhead took three wickets with consecutive balls and reduced Chester to 52 for 6 wickets.
The contest was now on and as Ogilby (48 not out) decided that he was going to win the game the tension mounted until the last over when Chester needed seven runs and Toft needed one wicket to win.
Bertenshaw bowled the last ball to a full length and the Chester man was run out with only inches to spare.
Muirhead was Toft's most successful bowler with 6 for 53.
On Saturday Toft entertain Nantwich at Booth's Park. 1pm start.
