A PLAY AREA has been given a £40,000 facelift - after children decided which new equipment they wanted.
Special meetings were arranged once Vale Royal Borough Council decided to improved the Danefields play area, in Danefield Road, Northwich.
At these meetings, youngsters were given the opportunity to say what they would like to happen and which play equipment they wanted.
Danefields Residents' Association helped with much of the hard work and members are determined that the area will retain its current good condition.
A new safety surface was laid at the play area and two multi-units containing climbing frames and slides suitable for six to 12-year-olds were added along with swings.
The council has also purchased equipment for the over 12s to be installed in the near future.
Ruth Higgins, secretary of the residents' association said: "We have all worked together - adults, young people and the council. It is great to see the children and young people getting so much pleasure from the new park."
Ian Atherton, Vale Royal's play development officer added: "The council is committed to improving the quality of play environments."
The new play area was officially opened by the Mayor of Vale Royal, Clr Steve Gough.
