FIVE women will be getting back in the habit for their second helping of an award-winning production later this month.
Members of Mid Cheshire Operation Society have decided to revive Don Coggin's musical comedy Nunsense for the second time after scooping the Guardian Rose Bowl Award for Production of the Year in 1999.
It was director Jeanne Walker who brought the show to the Northwich stage after watching her daughter star in another version of the show in Surrey.
"I have never laughed so much in all my life and decided then it was just the thing to appeal to Northwich audiences," she said.
The Guardian's arts correspondent, Richard Kelsall, wrote at the time: "I haven't seen people enjoying themselves with such exuberance for some time.
"The show was full of fun and deliciously played by a small cast of talented women...this was a great night out."
The production features the original cast of Jacqui Adlington, Meg Steward, Debbie Hobley, Diane Roberts and Jenny Edwards as five nuns who attempt to put on a benefit show in a school in Honoken, New Jersey.
The nuns try to raise money to bury four blue nuns who are kept on ice in the convent's refrigerators, while getting up to lots of mischief along the way.
Nunsense takes place at the Oakwood Lane Theatre in Barnton, from Tuesday 15 to Saturday, May 19.
Tickets for the event, which are priced £5.50 and £3.50 concessions, are available from Paul Rose on 01606 556160.
