CONGLETON 2nds produced an excellent victory on Saturday to banish memories of last week's crushing defeat by Nantwich.
Congleton earned 20 points from their home victory over Hale Barns, which was due in large part to excellent bowling and fielding.
Hale struggled to score runs, reaching just 41 for three in the first 35 overs of their innings, which closed at 105 for seven after 55 overs.
Simon Tatters was the pick of the Congleton bowlers, taking a trio of wickets in 18 overs at a cost of only 33 runs.
Captain Paul Beaumont provided excellent support, taking two for 21 off 12 overs, and Dave Hollingworth claimed one wicket for 18 in 11 overs.
Congleton always looked in control during their reply despite the early loss of Pete Brooks.
Pete Broughton and Rob Hart were in sparkling form, and steered Congleton to victory.
Broughton was unlucky to be dismissed for 33 to a stunning catch, and Hart continued in a partnership of 34 with Simon Tatters, the latter hitting 23.
Hart ended as top scorer with an unbeaten 39 as Congleton hit a winning 106 for three, with a massive 17 overs to spare.
* Congleton 2nds travel to Mobberley tomorrow in the league.
