ALSAGER produced a storming finish on Saturday to earn a well-deserved victory over Chadderton.
However a sour note was struck by the sending off late on of midfielder Rob Drummond for a tackle.
The 2-1 victory saw Alsager recover from going a goal down, and lifted them to eighth place in the league.
Alsager almost took the lead in the first minute with a goalbound shot from 15 yards from Drummond.
He had connected with a cross from Wayne Brotherton, but was denied by an excellent stop by the keeper.
Chadderton went close themselves on 16 minutes through left back Ferguson, whose shot was deflected wide by Chris Dick.
The visitors took the lead on 67 minutes when Ferguson picked the ball up just inside the Alsager half.
He powered forward before smashing home a shot from 25 yards, which gave the keeper no chance.
Alsager fought back to draw level eight minutes later when Chadderton centre half Clarke hit a poor back pass to his keeper.
Gareth Rowe pounced on the ball and rounded the keeper to make it 1-1.
Alsager were reduced to 10 men a minute later when Drummond was shown the red card, but rallied to score the winner on 75 minutes.
Steve Faint crossed for Paul Ireland to head across goal, where Rowe scored with a header from close range.
* Alsager are at home to joint leaders Nelson tomorrow.
