PART of Winwick Road will be closed over the weekend to allow vital resurfacing work to be carried out.
The southbound carriageway between Long Lane and Longford Street will be closed from 8pm tomorrow, Friday, to 6am on Monday, May 7, so that the resurfacing work can be completed.
The decision to close the southbound carriageway of the road has been made on safety grounds and is the final major stage of the structural maintenance of Winwick Road.
Phil Johnson, the borough council's assistant director of transportation and environmental design services, thanked drivers for their patience during the roadworks.
He said: "These road closures will enable us to complete the final major phase of structural road works in safety and we are aiming to keep all disruption to an absolute minimum by undertaking work at the weekend so as not to affect peak time and work traffic."
Diversions of traffic will come into operation during the closure.
