PUPILS are being put at risk while walking to school according to parents and residents.
They claim that lorries are blatantly breaching a condition order by coming in and out of a housing development while pupils head to school and believe it is an accident waiting to happen.
Wilcon Homes are building six luxury homes on Holly Terrace next to Penketh High School, which they won planning permission for on appeal after being previously rejected by Warrington Borough Council.
Restrictions were put on which limited lorry movements to and from the site to between 9.30am and 2.45pm only.
"They are blatantly disregarding these restrictions," said Donna Styers, who lives on Phythian Crescent, opposite Holly Terrace.
"There are big lorries coming back and to on the site past the school when the kids are going to school.
"We can see that there is an accident waiting to happen.
'A few weeks ago my husband come out of the drive and he said there were kids running at the back of the lorries."
Warrington Borough Council planning officer Pauline Shearer says they breached the restrictions during the school holiday, but then did it again on the Monday.
They have now issued a breach of condition order against the developers.
"Because of the proximity of the school we have to take this very seriously," she said.
"They have to comply in a specified time and if they do not we can prosecute."
A spokesman for Wilcon Homes said: "All of the subcontractors have been advised of the restrictions and any found breaking them would be reprimanded.''
