Pelican ...3
Partington ...3
PELICAN FC have become the first team in the history of the Altrincham Saturday League to win the league title for four successive seasons.
Furthermore, the reserve team lifted the second division trophy, making this the first time that one club has provided the champions of both divisions in the same season.
Pelican's match against Partington could have been crucial in the title race, but a surprise defeat at the hands of lowly Sale Hotel in midweek left Partington only able to reach 50 points.
Pelican already had 51 points, so Partington's midweek slip up handed Pelican the title.
Rick Mesquita grabbed two goals and Dave Barnes chipped in with one as Pelican drew 3-3 with Partington.
Pelican Reserves also had the luxury of knowing that the title was already in the bag, but this didn't stop them putting on a fine display against Old Alts, beating them 2-0.
