TRAFFORD Junior Netball Club returned to action in the Sharples Tournament held at Sharples Leisure Centre, near Bolton.
The competition attracted entries from 19 clubs throughout the North West who supported 69 different teams involving over 450 players.
The Trafford Club entered eight teams in the five age groups categories ranging from U11 to U18.
A normal tournament arrangement produces four semi-finalist from the top two teams in each group.
At Sharples however, due to restriction in court time the winners of each pool contested the final.
In both the U11 and U12 groups the Trafford A teams were runners-up in their respective groups.
Trafford A under 14 won all their pool games to contest the final with Bury.
At full-time the teams were level at 6-6 and extra time was played.
In a very tight but entertaining final Trafford were the eventual winners by 10-6.
This well deserved win has sweet revenge for a defeat last October which sent Bury rather than Trafford to the National Age Group Championships as winners of the Northern Region title.
The following weekend the under 10 and under 11 teams were again in action at the Deeside Tournament.
Some excellent netball against strong opposition resulted in the U10s as winners in their age group and the U11s were runners up.
