WARRINGTON Athletics Club's under 20s teams opened their season in the
National Junior League Mersey Division at the Oval in Bebbington on the Wirral.
The women finished a creditable third and the men finished sixth.
With such good early season form and a number of athletes still to return from college and injury the season looks bright.
For the women there were wins for Katie Brennen and Jenny Smith in the 1,500m and the 800m respectively. Caroline Fewins had a good win in the 100m hurdles and Emma Makin, running the 400m hurdles for the first time, stormed home to win comfortably.
In the 3,000m Carrie Howett and Anna Bishop, making their debuts for Warrington, finished first and second respectively.
The day was finished in outstanding fashion with the 4x400m relay team leaving the rest in their wake finishing almost 50m clear of their nearest rivals.
Competing for the men's team were Matt Daley, Lee Jepsom, Jason Grindley, Adam Elliot and Graham Woof. Lee came away with two PBs in the 100m and 200m.
