TETLEY Walker Football Club have confirmed their resignation from the North West Counties Football League effective from the end of the 2000/2001 season.
The move follows the decision of the Carlsberg-Tetley Sports and Social Club to withdraw their permission for Tetley Walker Football Club to use the pitch and facilities at Long Lane beyond the current season.
The social club committee claimed the soccer club and its players do not use the social club to socialise and therefore with the exception of paying to use the pitch are contributing nothing financially to the club.
Tetley Walker FC have discussed ground sharing with a number of clubs but have been unable to reach an agreement.
This left the club with no alternative but to resign from the North West Counties Football league after six seasons of membership, following stepping up from the Warrington Soccer League.
