TRAFFORD council's pilot scheme of a leader and cabinet form of executive will be formally in operation this month.
The Council has consulted Trafford people about the form of executive the borough should adopt and the consultation was strongly in favour of a leader and cabinet.
There was a low response to the Council's publicity leaflet and questionnaire, but 77% of those who did return their forms voted in favour of retaining a leader and cabinet.
Many believe that this model is much more democratic and workable and decisions will be made quickly and efficiently.
Only 15% of residents voted for an elected mayor and Cabinet and 8% voted for an elected mayor and Council manager.
Comments about these models included; the role of Mayor should be given as an honour for long service, as it is now, and an elected mayor would put too much power in the hands of one person.
The executive arrangements will be officially in operation from May 15.
