VICTORIA Square's £1m facelift is taking shape.
Halton Council is creating a giant piazza as part of a major regeneration, encouraging more restaurants to open in the southern end of the town centre.
It is hoped the area will become a vibrant focal point for arts, music and various special events and activities.
Work to replace all the paving and remove trees and shrubs is already well underway.
The historic Co-op building, which overlooks the site, is undergoing extensive refurbishment.
Halton Business Forum, the former Town Hall, is to be floodlit with ground mounted lights, recessed into the pavement.
Floodlight units will also be attached to the building, hidden behind existing sandstone blocks. The lighting attachments will be finished in a terracotta colour.
Plans for the floodlighting have been granted by Halton Council.
Listed building consent was approved to remove ornate security lighting and gate and replace with furniture more in keeping with the character of the listed building.
