A WOMAN was assaulted in a frightening attack in Winsford on Saturday, December 1.

The 39-year-old woman was walking home along Saxon Crossway at 11.30pm when she discovered a man urinating into a hedge.

She ignored the man and continued on her way home when the man suddenly appeared again, jumping out of bushes at the side of the road.

The man pushed her and tried to put his hands over her face and neck, causing the woman to scream in fright at her assailant.

This was enough to scare off her attacker, who ran away in the direction of the White Swan pub nearby.

Police have issued a description of the man - said to be a slim white male about 5ft 10ins tall, aged between 18 and 25 and with short dark hair.

He has a local accent and was wearing a long sleeved white top at the time of the attack.

Anybody who was around the area at the time and may have information is asked to contact PC Glyn Evans of Winsford police on 01606 592222.
