THE last chance to support a document that could safeguard green fields like that of Longbutt Lane in Lymm is almost upon us.

The deadline for support and objections to the borough council's unitary development plan is 5pm on Monday, December 16 and support for the plan could lead to the protection of sites like Longbutt Lane.

Clr Sheila Woodyatt said that in the wake of the council's decision not to further fight the application for 200 homes on the site she hoped there would be support for the UDP.

After the deadline closes, each objection will be analysed by council planning officers with a public inquiry earmarked to look into the issue in January 2004.
