THIS year's Dickensian Day will bring Lymm to a standstill on Saturday and once again there will be family fun throughout the village.

The main parade gets under way as usual from the Lymm Hotel at 1.30pm, featuring morris dancers, horse-drawn carriages, clowns and Newfoundland dogs to mention but a few.

Parish council chairman Clr John Bamforth will join the parade, along with Deputy Mayor Clr Pauline Nelson and her consort, David Spencer.

There will also be appearances from the village's rose bud and rose queen in the 17th year of the festival's running.

Maple Lodge Scout hut, on Pepper Street, will have lots of activities and stalls from 10am until 4.30pm, among them Katie Aspinall, who will be selling Christmas goods to aid her efforts to get to Austria for an international Guide camp later in the year.
