THE Warrington youth choir are travelling to Omagh in Ireland this weekend to perform a series of concerts designed to strengthen links between the two towns.

Both Warrington and Omagh share the harrowing experience of being victims of terrorist attacks at the hands of the IRA.

Happiness

The concert is a celebration of peace and a timely moment to reflect on new happiness as families come together for Christmas.

The choir will sing carols in Omagh's town centre tomorrow, Friday, before performing the main concert on Saturday.

The peace project has been organised by John Perry and Stuart Smith from Warrington's Pyramid centre, along with support from the Bridge foundation, the LEA and the Cultural Development Service.

Liz Norman, music teacher at Woolston Community High School and one of the youth choir's directors said: "We hope the concert over in Ireland will act as a foundation to build strong relations between Omagh and Warrington and together help us value the importance of peace."
