AN undercover operation has taken place in a bid to slash car crime at a Westbrook pub car park.
Following 21 vehicle break-ins at the Memphis Belle, officers from Sankey police's community action team launched an investigation.
Using a covert observation post, officers were able to monitor the car park and use a video camera and recording equipment provided by the police's technical support unit.
As a result of the operation, codenamed Operation Worthington, two men were arrested on suspicion of breaking into a car.
Property was also seized linking the suspects to another theft at the nearby Seven Woods pub car park. Both men were charged with theft offences.
