WITNESSES to a suspected arson attack that destroyed a portable toilet in Stockton Heath are being urged to come forward.

Police have made a fresh appeal to anyone who can help them with their investigation into the incident, which happened at the new site of the Hilal restaurant on Saturday, November 23.

Fire crews were called to the building at the junction of Walton Road and Dundonald Road at around 5am to tackle the flames.

The toilet was wrecked in the blaze, and the outside of the building itself was badly damaged.

PC Chris Robson, at Stockton Heath Police Station, said: "The portable toilet was outside for workmen to use, and it appears that someone has set fire to it.

"The toilet and tools were destroyed in the incident, and we are calling for any witnesses to come forward."

The Hilal restaurant used to be based in Grappenhall Road opposite The Mulberry Tree, where the Victoria Square development is now under way, before acquiring its new premises in Walton Road.

If you can help police with their inquiries into the fire, call PC Robson at Stockton Heath Police Station on 01925 264700.
