ONCE there was a boy called matt who went to St Orbans school. Matt is nine years old. He had the last hour to finish his work before home time and he looked forward to going home because it was nearly Christmas.

He had his mind set on a Scalextric and a play station II. Matt glanced around the room to see what people were doing - one boy was fast asleep as per usual and one girl was rocking on her chair not noticing the time or that there was not one single letter on her page except massive ink blotches! Matt's eyes shot to a boy wearing what looked like his dads shoes and long baggy pants that were miles too long - he had to pull them up every two minutes when he was! He might not know it is Christmas, Matt said to himself. Mary was tapping him on the shoulder annoyingly, so Matt turned around and shouted rudely

"WHAT!"

"Excuse me Matthew, we don't do that do we" said Mrs Tirtfield

"Pssst - that was unnecessary! I was only going to say that I think he knows it's nearly Christmas" said Mary.

The bell went.

Matt went to the door and waited for the boy that did not seem to rush at all.

"Why aren't you looking forward to Christmas?" Matt asked the boy

"My mum and dad don't have any money at all they only have enough money for bread and sometimes jam" said the boy disappointedly.

"What time does your bus arrive?" said matt

"Three thirty" said the boy

"I will be back in 5 minutes" said Matt

"Why?" Said the boy

"I will get you some money. You will be surprised!" Matt said

Matt ran all the way home and got his last supply of his pocket money and caught the boy before he got on the bus home.

"Give this to your parents" said Matt

"OK then I will" said the boy and he did and his parents went out and bought him presents.

Matt was happy he had brought happiness!

Remember when you are opening your Christmas really is - Jesus' birthday!
